ok, What would you guys do if you have found a $100 and noone has clame it?
Hey, finders keepers. I don't much believe in destiny, except for when you find money, lol. Now, if you found an entire wallet with the person's ID's and some way to contact them, then the honest and honorable thing to do is to return it complete with it's contents. But if it's just the money, then by all means, enjoy.
Well I know many people will think I'm a pussy but I would hand it in to the police. Why? Because just like the person who dropped it probably can't afford to lose $100, neither could I, so I'd hope that if somebody found my lost shit they'd hand it in too. And I'd happily offer them a reward cos it's better to be 10% down than 100% down.
The last three things I found were a mobile phone, a purse full of money and the keys to a Mercedes (right outside my door). Damn there are some absent-minded mo-fos out there lol
Sorry, but I'd keep it. Yes, it would be nice to think that people would go to the police, but most don't. They may try to back track, but often they don't. I didn't when we lost a $50 bill. Just made it without it. Also, you go to the police and no one claims it in my opinion they would, and I can use it more. *smile* Again, just my opinion.
if it were me, I'd turn it into the police. I'm about honesty all round, so there ya go.
I'd want to keep it, but I think I'd end up turning it into the police.
I'd turn it in to the police.
I'd spend it seeing that if it's not connected to a wallet then it is fair play that's the way I see it.
ok, so you guys will give it the police. But what if no one is around? And you justed found it on the floor well you were walking. How would you be able to put this in a two paragraphs?
I think I'd turn it in. Even though I'd be very tempted.
What the heck? Is this for a homework assignment or something? LOL. Put what in two paragraphs? Shouldn't you be writing that?

I believe my answer (post 3) was unequivocal.
To all you people who'd hand it in, if there's no ID attached to the money, what's to say that the policeman you hand it to won't spend it? My trust in official people is nonexistent. I lost a handbag on a train. I called ahead to the next station, where the station manager got on and removed the bag. In this country, if you've lost a bag, youhave to fill in an inventory of contents form. The only thing I couldn't state specifically was how much money I had in my purse. Everything else I listed, right down to my sandwich. When I spent £40 to travel to get my bag, guess what? The only thing that was missing was my cash. Now the only people who see these forms are officials, hence my reasoning that they stole the cash. After all, if it had been someone on the train, they'd have taken my phone/credit cards/iPod.
So, would I hand in the money? No, I wouldn't. If I had the time, i'd go and wait by the local Lost Property office for a while, keeping the money myself until I heard someone asking for it. If it wasn't claimed, i'd keep it.
However, if there's ID attached to something, then i'll usually call the person myself and return it in person. I've been to peoples' houses, delivered wallets with hundreds of pounds, returned phones, passports, all sorts. So i'm not a cruel person, just pesimistic about trusting others.

i can see your point, but I would like to hope that you got the one percent of people who just have no thought for others. After all if you needed help from an official, you'd want them to be as professional and helpful as possible, and they would be. You were just doubly unlucky in that instance.
I think though, that when it comes to money, people are out to gain for themselves wherever they can. just because they wear a badge doesn't make them of higher moral standing... I don't understand how people can do it though; I mean, it's one thing if there's no ID, but if there is, then i'd get the guilts if I even thought about keeping it!
agree with post five.
What would I do if I found $100 and no one has claimed it? Hmm, that's a tough question! I'd probably keep it, but I'm not totally sure.
I think I would keep it. Once, I was on an O&M lesson, and this old woman came up to me and tried to give me $50 because I was blind. She was going on about how I deserved it and what a terrible situation I must be in. Unfortunately my o&m instructor showed up and stopped her. I was like damn, if you're gonna be that stupid, then you should have let me take it. I know that's not the same situation, but it's kind of the same thing.
Hmmm, I'm with your O&M instructor on that one. If someone just walked up and tried to give me money because they felt sorry for me for being blind, I'd be kind of ticked off. I don't want or need people feeling sorry for me. Blindness sucks ass but it's not the end of the world and I don't require pity. I know the old lady meant well, but to me it's kind of ignorant and insulting. Maybe I'm just too much of an independent hard ass though.
As for finding a hundred dollar bill, if no one is around and it's not attached to a wallet, most likely I'd spend it. But, it depends on the circumstances. For instance, if I found it in my office building, which is pretty small and the odds of finding the owner are good, I'd try to return it. But if I were in a big train station or something with tons of people roaming around, the odds of finding the owner seem slim so I'd keep it. I wouldn't bother going to the police over $100 though. In the grand scheme of things, a hundred bucks isn't that much money and the police most likely aren't going to find the owner. If I lost a hundred bucks, I'd be pissed at myself, but I wouldn't even bother going to the police because the odds of someone turning it in are so slim and how can you really identify it and prove it's yours. You good samaritans who are taking the bill to the police are probably just financing a donut run. Now if the money is in a wallet with an ID, I'd return that every time no matter the amount of cash in the wallet.
I'm not saying I wanted her to feel sorry for me, I'm just saying if you're stupid enough to throw your money away like that, I'll laugh at you and take it. I hate it when people feel sorry for me, because there's no reason for it. But there's also no reason why I shouldn't play along if people want to be that stupid.
